Age 43, of Pine City, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at his home, surrounded by those who loved him dearly, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Matt was born and raised in Elmira the son of the late Dr. John "Jack" and Charlotte (Van Dyke) Aber. He is also predeceased by his nephew Connor Jezorski. Matt is survived by his wife of 10 ½ years Crystal Jenks Aber, his adored children, Madison E. and Michael E. Aber; siblings, Pam (Rob) Groff, Waneta Lake NY, Mike (Liza Schuman) Aber, Long Beach CA, Vickie (Mike) Jezorski, Dundee, Dan (Karen) Aber, Wellsburg, Tom (Dawn Haag) Aber, Elmira, Sheila (Patrick) Cashman, Anchorage AK, Duke (Lauren) Aber, Weston CT; mother-in-law Donna Harlow, Hartland VT; grandmother-in-law Beverlie Harlow, White River Junction VT; brothers-in-law, Richard Jenks , Hartland VT and Adam Jenks of White River Junction VT; along with many nieces and nephews. Matt was a graduate of Paul Smith College. He also earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Elmira College. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Matt was a hardworking, devoted husband and father focused on teaching his children life skills. In honoring and remembering his life Matt's family will welcome friends to his home in Pine City on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those wishing may remember Matt with a donation to the Madison and Michael Aber Trust Fund, c/o Chemung Canal Trust Company, Attn: Trust Dept., P O Box 1522, Elmira NY 14902.
