Carl E. Proper
Elmira: Age 74, passed away very unexpectedly on Saturday, October 6, 2012 after a sudden illness. Carl was born in Elmira on June 21, 1938, son of the late Charles E. and Margaret (Egan) Proper. Carl is survived by his bride, and friend of 30 years, Linda Strange Proper; daughter Lisha A. BeGell of Elmira with her sons, Dylan S. and Logan S. BeGell; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Earley of Sun City FL, Beverly and James Close of Interlaken NY; nieces, Laurie, Connie, Sharon, Lynda and Julie. Also surviving are many close friends. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from WETM-TV in 2006 with over 40 years in broadcasting. Carl was very involved in the community. He was a board member and former president of the Arctic League, former board member of Glove House and the American Red Cross. Carl had a long association with Elmira Little Theater. He was a member and former secretary of the IATSE Local 289. Carl had a passion for golf and enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and the Caribbean.
