Obituary of Marcella Marie Cook

Age 89 of Elmira passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Marcella was the daughter of the late James J. and Emma (Vargason) McCormick. She was predeceased by her husband John W. Cook and brothers, Lawrence and Lester McCormick. Marcella is survived by her 6 children, Carol A. Brady with husband James and their children, U S Army Major Ret. James J. (Megan) Brady and John C. Brady; Cathleen M. Weakland with her daughters, Logan M. Cook and Maren E. Weakland; Thomas J. Cook with wife Theresa and their son Kylen Cook; Michael J. Cook; Timothy P. Cook; Kevin J. Cook with wife Susan and their sons, Keenan P. and Colin J. Cook; great grandchildren, Harrison J., Garrett M. and James J. III "Tripp" Brady; brother-in-law William M. Cook of Grayslake IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marcella was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a kind and generous heart and opened her home to many. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St. Elmira, on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m., St. Mary's Church. Committal prayers and interment will then take place at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery.
