Elmira: Age 72, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016. Jeane was born in Elmira, a daughter of Gladys LaVelle Gannon and Francis J. LaVelle. Gladys was 6 months pregnant with Jeane when Francis (U.S. Army) was killed when his plane was shot down over Europe during WWII. Jeane was raised by her mother and step-father James F. Gannon, Sr. In addition to her parents and step-father, Jeane is predeceased by her brother Larry LaVelle and nephew PJ LaVelle. She is survived by her brother Jim (Marla) Gannon; sister-in-law Kay LaVelle; nephews, Joe (Susie) LaVelle, Jeff (Donna Marble) LaVelle, Mike (Andre Alston)LaVelle, John (Tessa) Gannon, Travis (Sally Deane) Moshier, Joshua (Brenda) Moshier; niece Susan LaVelle; along with several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Jeane was a graduate of Niagara University where she earned her nursing degree. She was a 14 year veteran of the U S Navy. Jeane worked for several years at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was a longtime NY Mets and Dallas Cowboy fan. Private family services will be held.
