Elmira: Age 89, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born May 18, 1923 a daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Carroll) Schneck. She is predeceased by her husband Leroy "Bucky" Snyder, sisters and brother-in-law, Rita Mangan McIntyre, Regina and John Sullivan. Dorothy is survived by her children, with their families, Lawrence "Larry" and Marcia Snyder, St. Augustine FL, formerly of Elmira, with children, Julie (Graham) Hayes and Kyle Snyder; Catherine "Cathy" and Bill Morrell, Elmira, with children, Thomas (Laurie) Morrell, Alise (Jonathon) Sinclair, Joseph (Kristi) Morrell; Dennis "Denny" and Charlene Snyder, Elmira, with children, Katy, Colin, Jaime and Kevin; James "Jamey" and Kimberly Snyder, Indiana PA, with children, Jessica and Patrick; great grandchildren, Myles and Aurelia Hayes, Trevor and Brady Morrell, Leo and Jude Sinclair, Elijah and Joseph Trey Morrell; brother-in-law Ronald Snyder, Horseheads; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends at Woodbrook. Dorothy was the beloved matriarch of the Snyder family…..raising her children and then watching, with great pride, as the family grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She enjoyed a good game of golf and was a former member of the Elmira Country Club. Dorothy was a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Church.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery, Horseheads. Those wishing may remember Dorothy with a donation to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira NY 14905. Dorothy's family extends a special thank you to the staff at Woodbrook, where Dorothy resided for 3 years, and to the staff on 2B at AOMC for their care of Dorothy over the past several days. Members of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will meet at the funeral home, Wednesday, January 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. to conduct a service for our sister, Dorothy.
