James L. Feldmann
Elmira: Age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Wilkes-Barre PA on January 5, 1933, son of George and Margaret (Keating) Feldmann. In addition to his parents Jim was predeceased by his wife Carol (Anderson) Feldmann in 1995; brothers, George "Bud" and William Feldmann. He is survived by his son Mark J. Feldmann, Elmira; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa J. and Jeremy Richards, Ithaca and their children Elliot and Tina, Diane F. and Chris Schlacter of Pawtucket RI; longtime friend and sweetheart Gretchen Joan Barneski, Elmira and her children, Paula Mathes, Douglas (Deb) and Steve (Jeannie); sisters, Margaret Sheehan and Sarah Scholefield both of Elmira; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Feldmann, Buffalo, Julie Feldmann, John and Sandy Anderson all of Elmira. Also surviving are many nieces nephews and extended family. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Korea. In 1995 Jim retired from Dresser Rand with over 35 years of service. His job as a mechanical engineer required a great deal of traveling and Jim and his family lived in the Netherlands for 3 years. He continued to enjoy traveling in his retirement. He was an avid golfer and woodworker. Jim also enjoyed following all kinds of sports.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Military honors will follow at the conclusion of the service. Private interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's memory may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
