Donald W. Wilson
Age 97, of Elmira, peacefully died at his home, with his loving family around him, on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Don was born November 21, 1912, the son of Homer F. and Grace (Laughlin) Wilson. He is predeceased by his wife Margaret Sheehan Wilson, daughter Mary Donna Wilson, son Jerry Wilson, and brother Butch Wilson. Don is survived by his six children, all of Elmira, with their families….Beth and Bob Darmstadt with children, Michael (Sara), Jill, David (Erica), and Julie (Kevin) Mandia; Diane and Tom Booth with children, Amy (Stephen) VanHouten, Rebecca (Scott) Kotwas, and Ed Booth; Tom and Kristen Wilson with children, Connor, Kelsey and Breton; Jim and Terry Wilson with children, Ted (Xan), Michele, Matt and Erica; Deb and Gary Geiger with children, Jason Janowsky, Hillary Everet, and Janine Geiger; Meggie and Tony Denicola with children, Bridget, Katie, and Sean; great-grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Madison, Sean, Rob, Miley, Rowan, Tommy, Ryan, Danny, Allison, Lucy, Tayia, and Collin. Also surviving is sister Bedot Bullock of McLean, VA; sister-in-law Peg Sheehan of Elmira; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Don was the former owner of the Town Tavern. He was also retired from Hardinge Bros., Inc. A loving father, and grandfather, Don treasured the many good times spent with his family. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Don's memory may be directed to either, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Save the Children Fund, 54 Wilton Road, Westport, CT 06880.
