Obituary of Christopher Thomas Walton
It is with profound sadness that the Walton family announces the unexpected passing of their son, brother and uncle, Christopher Thomas Walton, on August 14, 2024. Born in Elmira, NY, Chris, 39, was a beloved son of Paul and Susan (Sheehan) Walton.
From a young age, Chris was an avid outdoorsman and an amphibian enthusiast, often bringing home fish, frogs, lizards and turtles which he caught during his backyard adventures. As he grew, he took up a position at The Elmira Country Club, where his warm demeanor and ready smile became well known to all who frequented the greens. A passionate basketball fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, he rarely missed watching a game and enjoyed sharing his excitement (or disappointment) with his friends and family. His leisure time was often spent in the tranquility of fishing, particularly at his preferred spot on hole No. 7 at the ECC, unwinding with friends by kayaking down the Mighty Chemung River or in the simple pleasures of laughing and conversing on the front porch surrounded by family. Chris' laughter was a gift that brightened the lives of those who heard it, and his steadfast loyalty and love were the hallmarks of his character.
Chris is survived by his parents, Paul and Susan (Sheehan) Walton of Elmira, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Michael Murray of Freeport, FL; brother, Ryan Lloyd Walton of San Diego, CA, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. "Uncle Toph" will be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Michael Paul "Mick" Murray, Connor Patrick Murray and Aislinn Cait Murray, all of Freeport, Fl. Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gov and Goo Sheehan (Roger and Margaret) and his paternal grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma Walton (Gordon & Jo Ann).
Chris' big heart and fun-loving personality left a permanent impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He departs this world too soon and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness.
Private services were held.
