Obituary of April Joy Tucker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of April J. (Golden) Tucker, age 44 of Cortland NY, formerly of Elmira NY, on Friday, July 5, 2024 in Cortland.  April is survived by her mother Sandra Taylor Golden Peary with her husband David; father Howard A. Golden with his wife Penny; son Jacob Tucker; brother James P. Golden; very special companion Jason Brown of Cortland; first husband Robert Tucker; several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

April was born and raised in Elmira.  She graduated from Southside High School in 1998.  April attended Corning Community College.  In 2000 she and Robert were blessed with the birth of her one and only child, whom she loved deeply and with all her heart. 

April held many various jobs with her empathetic heart guiding her toward helping others, be it as a CNA at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Front Desk Hotel Hospitality or her most recent passion as a Direct Support Professional at Unity House in Ithaca NY.  Her compassion for people and eagerness to be helpful was shared with the many people who were blessed to have known her. 

She made many friends and acquaintances along her much too short journey in life, but was very fortunate to have maintained long standing sister bonds with a few very special ladies – Marnie Cook, Lisa Lathrop, Kelly Waters, and Krisin Horn – You are all very special to our family.  She gave love the same as she was loved – Fiercely and Completely.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W.
