Obituary of Doreen A. Saltsman

Age 72, passed away peacefully at her home, on Saturday, April 20, 2024.  Doreen was born in Elmira, daughter of the late Alwyn E. and Betty (Rutzke) Darmstadt.   She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John C. Saltsman; daughters and sons-in-law, Gretchen J. and Christopher Blowers of Elmira with daughters, Lilly, Gabby, and Ella …. Heidi N. and Brandon Rosettie of Horseheads with children, Dominic and Makayla; brother and sister-in-law Robert A. and Beth Darmstadt of Elmira; brother-in-law and sister-in-law G. Richard and Janice Saltsman of Chemung; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Doreen was a 1970 graduate of Elmira Free Academy.  She went on to graduate from the Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Nursing. Doreen worked as a registered nurse at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for 40 years with 33 of those years being in the Emergency Room.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a time and place to be announced at a later date.  Family and friends will be invited to stop and have a drink, some food and talk about Doreen’s 72 years.  In lieu of food or flowers, those wishing may send a donation to a charity of your choice.
