Obituary of Kelly L. Swanson
Age 61, Pine City, NY, passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS. Kelly was born in Elmira, NY to the late Frederick and Janet Ludwig Ricks. In addition to her parents Kelly was predeceased by her father-in-law John Swanson, grandparents, Jacob and Wilma Ludwig, Charles and Margaret Ricks and many close loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Kelly is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Charles “Her Darwin" Swanson and their loving children, Daniel “Best Man” and Beth “Bay” Swanson; loving sisters, (KKJ Forever & Always), Karen (Dan) Aber and Julie (Joe) Becraft; mother In-law Elizabeth “Bette” Swanson; brothers-in-law, Scott (Skye) Swanson, and Mike Swanson.
Aunt Moo will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, with their children; Tricia (Greg), Nolan, and Nora Burt, Jack (Meagan) and Colton Aber, Zack (Courtney) and Danni Jaynes, Janet (Theo) Jacob, Genevieve, Scarlett Wahl, and Joseph Becraft. Kelly is also survived by many close lifelong friends, and special neighbors, The Suida family.
Kelly was a 1981 graduate of Horseheads High School and attended Corning Community College. For many years Kelly was a sales representative for Southern Tier Contract. Kelly loved bringing her Christmas Spirit to many customers at Mann’s Country Gardens.
Together Kelly and Swan enjoyed their many vacations, camping trips, races, dance competitions, and soccer tournaments with their children, family, and friends. Kelly was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. Kelly held a bright light in the hearts of many and lit up every room with her smile. Kelly’s light will continue to shine through the hearts of those she touched ... Kelly is Kindness.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water St, Elmira NY, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Please gather at the Walnut Street entrance of the cemetery by 11:50 a.m. to process to the grave site. Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17th, at 5:50 p.m. to conduct a service for our sister Kelly. Signed, Patty Corcoran, President
