Obituary of Rosa Lee Washington
Rosa Lee Washington age 82 a beloved, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, with her "daughters" by her side.
Rosa was born in Hahira, GA to the late Nancy Davis Washington and Thomas Milton Washington. Rosa lived in St. Petersburg FL before coming to Elmira in the early 1960's and started her family here. She was one of 10 siblings that were separated after the tragic death of both her parents when she was a child. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Green, Edward Green, Doris Beard, James Washington, Otis Washington, Ward Washington, and John Washington. Rosa is survived by her siblings, Betty King of St. Petersburg, FL and Thomas Washington of Atlanta GA.
She is also survived by her daughter Angela Wims McInerny (Brian) of Elmira, granddaughters, Marshelle Elliott and Courtney McInerny, and great grandchildren Michael, Arthur, Jada and Ivan; and her son Isaac “Red” Wims Jr. (Charity Abraham) of Honolulu HI, granddaughters, Malika, Velesida, QueenRosa, and Dasha; and great granddaughters, Melani, Keisha, Darcy, and ZuryVioray
Rosa retired from Hardinge Brothers where she worked in multiple areas on the manufacturing floor. She was a committed member of the Kingdom Hall in Elmira, NY, spending many hours a day studying the Bible and living in the way of Jehovah. She loved to spend time spoiling her grandkids. Rosa loved to be outdoors enjoying nature no matter the season. While growing up and raising her young children, fishing, gardening, and playing in the snow were among her favorite activities. Rosa’s grace and kindness were appreciated by all that knew her.
In celebration of Rosa's life, calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira, from 1:00-2:30 PM. A funeral service will be conducted by the Jehovah's Witnesses at the conclusion of calling hours. A livestream of the service will be on YouTube; please subscribe to McInerny Funeral Home.
