Bill was my SCUBA instructor when I was the ripe old age of 15- and accompanied me on my certification dive in Seneca Lake. In JANUARY. We both froze our you-know-what off, but that experience took away some of the awkwardness and self doubt from a goofy kid. Forward to age 18 and a happy patron of the Elbow Room, I felt like a real honest-to-goodness adult-as Bill treated me like one. I’ve moved away since then, but only have fond, respectful and happy memories of interacting, learning and being inspired by him.

I often go back to my Jr. & Sr. Highschool days, which were very tough on me, except for your patience in educating. I was honored as a student to have you as my teacher in three classes. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me and, I'm sure, many others. With endless gratitude Bill Kinney, I send blessings on your journey home!

I worked with Bill all the years that I was at Shoemaker, then Ambrose and Shoemaker. What a wonderful person!! Such a special guy whom I remember often. I still have thoughtful gifts that he gave to me back then when I was the Advertising Director. He could always brighten my day. Heartfelt condolences to his family, for surely if Bill touched my heart as he did, his loss is breaking theirs.
