Ms. Genevieve’s spicy personality was my favorite part about her. One of the first times I talked to her, I asked her if she liked my new shirt. She looked me up and down, then told me I should burn it. I haven’t worn it since, but I smile every time I see it in my closet. As strange as it sounds, I knew after that day that she would become one of my favorite people. Every time I left her room, I would tell her I loved her. Some days she would say, “I love you too, honey,” and other days she would shout, "Bye." I would just laugh, and she would wink at me with a grin on her face. It didn’t matter that our age difference was 77 years, she was my friend. My job didn’t feel like an actual job when I was around her. She always made me smile and definitely kept me humble. The time I spent with her and the memories we made are something I will cherish forever.
