Obituary of Anne Keeton Dimmick
Died after a short illness Friday, December 1, 2023, with family by her side, at Bethany Manor Nursing Facility. She was 91. Anne was born in Elmira NY to Walter and Fanny (Wolfe) Callahan. She was one of eight children, which contributed to her characteristic spunk, resilience, and generous spirit. Anne graduated from Southside High School, Elmira NY, class of 1950. Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator for several years before marrying her husband Phil in 1952 and settling down to eventually raise six children. In the early 70’s she went back to work as a dietician’s assistant, which she chose because of her lifelong interest in nutrition and healthy eating. Anne was an avid gardener with a real green thumb. Back in the day she and Phil grew and canned tomatoes, cucumbers and rhubarb and made their own relish, all from the family garden. Anne was widowed in 1993 but was blessed to find love again, marrying her second husband, Roy Dimmick, in 2000. She enjoyed arranging flowers, taking long walks, and playing Bingo. She also loved to travel, frequently visiting all of her children wherever their careers took them. Later in life she volunteered at Meals on Wheels, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and Bethany Manor. She loved to laugh, especially at herself, and had a great sense of humor. But mostly she will be remembered as a very loving wife and wonderful mother, who always put her family first. Anne was predeceased by her husband Philip Keeton in 1993 and by her second husband, Roy Dimmick, in 2004. She was also predeceased by her eldest son, Joseph Keeton in 2004. She is survived by her youngest brother Tom Callahan of Alexandria VA, and five children: Susan (Larry) Miller of Spring Hill FL, Jim (Claudia) Keeton of Rock Stream NY, John (Cherith) Keeton of Geneva NY, Lisa (Gerard) Jacques of Gainesville VA and Jerry Keeton of Biloxi MS, as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by over 45 nieces and nephews. The family invites friends to attend a Funeral Service at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.
