Condolences to Mike’s family. Although I have not seen him since we moved from Elmira, I know my brother Tim enjoyed seeing Mike & his brothers recently. And my sister Maureen & I saw him (or maybe tried to exclude him!) when we were hanging around with Terry at their house or while camping (at Watkins Glen? Enfield Glen?). It sounds like Mike grew into a fine man. We O’Learys spent a lot of time with the Van Werts growing up and every member of your family was kind & loving & fun to be with.

Dear Mary and family: Mike and I grew up together on opposite ends of Yale St. in the 50's and 60's. We both attended St. Mary's Elementary School at the same time. Mike and I did lots of things together and spent a lot of time at each others houses. During the summer we would caddy together at the Country Club to earn pocket money. I remember being at Mike and Mary's wedding and how happy and excited they were that day. He was a great friend. I will miss seeing and talking with him around town where we would occasionally run into each other. Jim Coleman

My heartfelt sympathy to all of the Van Wert Family. I was fortunate to get to know Mike as a part of the Senior Citizen Afternoon Gym Rat Group that formed over the years at NYS&F. Mike was such a good soul, and clearly loved his family and friends. Our Group truly misses his presence each day. I hope your memories will help ease the sorrow as time goes on.
