Obituary of Dolores Kennedy

Dolores Kennedy, age 69 of Pine Valley, NY went to her heavenly home on October 15, 2023. She is predeceased by her father Bernard T. Kennedy, mother Mary T (Hughes) Kennedy, sister Kathleen (Lyle) Schnell, brother-in-law Charles E. Smith, two nephews, Jimmy Nicholson and Brian Freer and one niece Abigail Smith. Dolores is survived by her siblings, Ann (John) McCarthy, Mary Alice (Bill) Nicholson, Karen Smith, Beverly Kennedy (Chris Barton), Bernadette Kennedy, Paul Kennedy, B. Robert (Jane) Kennedy, Joan Kennedy (Dennis Kocsis) and Elizabeth (Miki) Kennedy. She is also survived by twenty-four nieces and nephews and eighteen great- nieces and nephews.

Dolores graduated from Edison High School in Elmira Heights. She retired from ARC and was a long-time member of their family. Dolores loved music. Her family and friends were often entertained with her singing, guitar and keyboard playing.  She enjoyed going to the movies and music theater. As a young person, Dolores loved to swim. Family pets always had lots of attention, too.  Dolores was a life-time communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church.

Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W Water Street, Elmira on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 Broad Street, Horseheads NY.  Interment, with committal prayers, will then take place at St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ARC of Chemung/Steuben, 711 Sullivan Street, Elmira NY 14901.
