Obituary of Michael Angelo Difasi
Michael Angelo Difasi, age 66, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on July 20, 2023. Mike was born in Elmira son of the late Angelo and Nicolina (Capozzi) Difasi. He is survived by his loving wife Rena M. Difasi; daughters, Nicole Difasi, Rachel Difasi, and Alexandra “Ali” Difasi with Dylan Brotzman and their daughter Twila Brotzman; stepchildren with spouses, Jessica and Paul Parker with their children Merissa, Jaxson and Alexis Parker, Zac Alan and Nicholas Stein, and Candice and James West; siblings and their spouses, Anthony and Antoinette Difasi, Jeannette and William Meck, Daniel and Deborah Difasi, Mary and Joseph Brenzo, and Charles Difasi; mother-in-law Rosalie Misuraca; brother-in-law Mike Stonemetz; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was a 1975 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He worked as a New York State Correction Officer for 35 years, retiring in 2019. He was an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman and Boy Scout, and found enjoyment in bowling and billiards. He was a timeless craftsman and tradesman, a master machinist, carpenter, electrician, plumber, and auto mechanic who left his indelible mark on the community.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church at 10:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.
