Ethel P. Furey
Elmira: Age 93, died at her daughter's home on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Ethel was born January 27, 1917, the daughter of Francis and Georgianna (English) Paddock. She is predeceased by her husband John F. Furey, Jr., sisters-in-law, Clara Z. Paddock, Sylvania Miller, Dr. Mary Z. Furey, brother-in-law Dr. Dewitt T. Baker, nephew Ted Baker, and grandson-in-law Daniel P. Emanuel. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Susan E. Furey of Geneva, NY, Evelyn F. Furey, with Michael Fieno, of Elmira; grandchildren, Angella C. Emanuel, Jessica L. (Travis) Moreno, Samuel A. Furey Goodman, Michael P. Furey Goodman; great-grandchildren, Nicholas J. and Francesca J. Moreno; brother George C. Paddock of Bath; sister-in-law Yvonne Baker of East Corning; former son-in-law and good friend John Gordon Burroughs; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a multitude of good friends. Active in local clubs, Ethel and her husband John were members of the following…. Elmira Elks, American Legion Post #443,Elmira Moose, and Elmira Eagle's Club. She was also a former member and treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ethel was an avid watcher of soap operas, loved the NY Yankees, loved music and singing but above all she loved her family and friends. She was a member of North Presbyterian Church, Elmira and of late had attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Geneva, NY. Ethel was an incredibly sweet person who had a beautiful smile for everyone, generous in spirit, she was loved by all. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then again on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service, officiated by Fr. James Adams of St. Peter's in Geneva, will follow after Monday's calling hours.
