Obituary of Suzanne Butler

Elmira: Age 77, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Suzy was born and raise in Elmira, a daughter of the late Dr. M. Frederick and Eleanor (Beardsley) Butler. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her brother John R. Butler; aunts and uncles, Jeanette and Walter Sweeney, Sister Edwina Butler, RSM, Thomas and Dorothy Butler.

Suzy is survived by her brother M. Frederick "Fritz" Butler, Jr., of Ovid NY; cousins, Thomas "Chip" Butler (Karen) of Philadelphia PA, Joyce Maloney (John) of Crofton MD, Denise Serra (Greg) of Bradenton FL, Walter "Terry" Sweeney (Kathy) of Elmira, Sheila "Tia" Bates (Richard) of Cocoa Beach FL; life-long friend Anne Fitzpatrick of Elmira.

A 1963 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Suzy continued her education at Elmira College, where she earned a Master's Degree. She worked for over 30 years in administration at Elmira College. She was a devoted sister to her brother Fritz.

Services for Suzy will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with committal prayers, will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
