Obituary of Philip N. Murray
Phil, age 78, from Elmira, most recently of Parrish FL, went to be with our Lord on February 23, 2023, with his family by his side.
Phil was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Mary Jane Murray; and brothers, Paul, Chris, and Greg. He is survived by his wife Judith Wills Murray; three children, Eileen (Fred) Naegler, Mark (Jennifer) Murray, Steven (Julie) Murray; six grandchildren, Emma Naegler, Sean and Patrick Murray, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Megan Murray; brother Joel; sisters-in-law, Cindy, Debbie, and Janet; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After graduating from Southside High School in 1962, Phil enlisted in the US Navy, seving from 1962 - 1966. He joined the USPS in 1969 as a letter carrier and completed his 30-year career as postmaster in Pine City NY. His pride and joy were his family. He was very proud of his childrens' and grandchildrens' accomplishments and loved spending time with them.
Phil enjoyed playing golf, reading, socializing, and being a Fighting Irish fan, regularly attending Notre Dame games with his brothers, son, and extended family. Phil loved to dance and would often be the last one on the dance floor with the love of his life, Judy. Everyone who knew Phil enjoyed him for his vibrant personality and welcoming smile. He will be remembered and truly missed.
Family and friends are invited to St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Phil's Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be accorded Phil, outside of the church, immediately following the Mass. Those wishimg may remember Phil with a donation to a charity of on'es choice, or the American Heart Association, P O Box 840692, Dallas TX 75284-0692.
