Obituary of Patricia Ann Callahan
Age 73 of Montour Falls, passed away peacefully at Schuyler Hospital on Friday, January 27, 2023. Patty was born in Montour Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Messenger) Stanko. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Robert Stanko. Patty is survived by daughter Jennifer A. Callahan of Elmira; grandson Geoffrey T. Callahan of Portland ME; sisters, Eva Stanko of Watkins Glen, Barbara Hughes (Jim) of Horseheads, and Anna Stanko-Byers of Watkins Glen; along with several nieces and nephews.
Patty grew up in Watkins Glen. She was a US Army veteran serving from 1967 to 1969. She had worked for several years as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital. Patty later worked at the Elmira Correctional Facility from where she retired. She was a great lover of animals, especially dogs and was an obedience trainer for the 4H Canine Club. Patty also enjoyed knitting.
Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Friday, February 3, 2023, for a 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Committal, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
