Age 82 of State Route 352 Corning NY, passed away at Corning Hospital following declining health on Friday, August 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Elmira, son of the late Leroy and Thelma Miller McGettrick. He was also predeceased by his daughter Suzanne McGettrick Bacille; sisters, Patricia McGettrick Myers (Bobby) and Dawn McGettrick Costley. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathryn “Kay” Kain McGettrick; daughter Kristina McGettrick (Linda) of Newfield NY; son William McGettrick of Corning; grandchildren, Ashley Driscoll Struble (Zachary) of Big Flats, Madison McGettrick of Corning, Cody Watkins (Kristyn) of Horseheads; sisters, Jacqueline McGettrick Woughter (Terry) of Gillett PA, Elaine Cherock (Jim) of Corning; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed for 36 years with NSYEG, retiring as a foreman from the Horseheads office. Bill loved his home, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. As per Bill’s request the burial will be held at the convenience of his immediate family only. He will be laid to rest at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery in Elmira beside his beloved daughter, Suzanne. A special thank you to Dr. N Akila and her nurse, Kim, for the exceptional care they provided to Bill.
