Obituary of Frances L. Skordinski

Age 93, passed away peacefully at Elcor Health Services on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Fran was born in Sayre PA, a daughter of Tracey E. and Leona (Comfort) Clark. Fran was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph F. Skordinski Sr., on May 9, 2012. She was also predeceased by brothers, Tracey Jr. and Bob Clark and sister Theresa Wythra. Fran is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Nancy A. and Frank Oliva, Old Orchard Beach ME and Jeanne Skordinski, Elmira; son and daughter-in-law Joseph F. Jr. and Lorna Skordinski of West Haverstraw NY; grandchildren, Johsie Bennett with husband Craig of Weare NH, , Major Ammilie Outland - U.S. Army with husband James Outland - U.S. Army retired of Ellicott MD, Frank Oliva Jr. with wife Marcella of Boston MA, Kyle and Lexi Skordinski, Myrtle Beach SC; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Barker, Florida, Shirley and Glen Longnecker, Mansfield PA; sister-in-law Connie Skordinski, Elmira. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Fran was a graduate of Troy High School. After high school she worked in the office at American LaFrance for a short time. Fran then went to work at the former Bendix/Eclipse in Elmira Heights. She worked there for a total of 30 years. Her time there was interrupted when there was a downsizing at the plant. Fran went to work at Westinghouse for four years before returning to Bendix/Eclipse, retiring as an on-line inspector. Fran had also worked as an election inspector for Chemung County for many years. She was an active member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic War Vets. Fran was a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Church. Family and friends are invited to St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will then take place at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery, Elmira Heights. Donations in Fran's memory may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester NY 14620.
