Obituary of Theodore Adam Marciniak

Age 89, passed away in Lancaster NY on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Ted was born in Watkins Glen, son of Adam J. and Lucy (Zack) Marciniak. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Julia "Joan" Garrad Marciniak. Also surviving are sons with their families, Theodore C. and Chikako Marciniak of Tallapoosa GA …. John A. and Kathleen Marciniak of Alden NY with their children, David (Kristen) Marciniak, Karolyn (Dr. Ross) Trecartin , Mary and Melissa Marciniak …. Stephen M. and Michelle Marciniak of Charlotte NC with their children, Zachary, Sean Michael, Connor and Kailin Marciniak; brother Dr. Robert Marciniak of Watkins Glen and Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Margaret Garrad of Isle of Man, British Isles; one newborn great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Ted was a devout Catholic and had been a long-time parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hiking, canoeing and kayaking with his sons the many trails, mountains, rivers and lakes of the Adirondacks and his home of upstate New York as well as throughout the Appalachian chain down to the Florida Everglades.
Ted graduated from Watkins Glen High School and from Cornell University, Class of '55, and the Mortgage Bankers School. He served in Germany in the U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division before beginning his career in banking. As a local banker he started at the Marine Midland Bank and moved up through many roles ultimately retiring as a Regional Vice President from Columbia Banking.
Family and friends are invited to call at St. Mary's Church, 244 Franklin Street, Elmira, on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Burial will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen. Those wishing may remember Ted with a donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira Heights NY 14903.
