Obituary of Margaret Ann Palmieri

Elmira: Age 82, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Peggy was born and raised in Elmira a daughter of William and Margaret (Wallet) Kelly. Peggy is survived by her husband Joseph Palmieri, with whom she would have celebrated 63 years of marriage with in August; son, Ritchie M. Palmieri of Elmira; daughters, Janette A. "Jan" Palmieri of Elmira, with son Joseph (Mackenzie) Dunn; Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Palmieri Koerner of Pine City, with husband Timothy and children, Amanda (Frank) Guerrero and Alexis (fiancé Matt Sabul) Koerner; great-grandchildren, Maci L. Dunn, Emma Leah K., Frank K., Tychicus K. and Timotheus "Zechariah" Guerrero; sister-in-law Barbara Palmieri of Horseheads; along with several nieces, nephews and good friends. Peggy is predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Kerry Bannister, Mary and Bud Williams, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Anna Jane Kelly, brother-in-law Michael Palmieri. Peggy met Joe in 1952 at the Grotto Skating Rink (now Joycrest) when Joe was 15 and she was 13. They married on August 23, 1958 at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Peggy was a Computer Lab Teacher for the Elmira City School District. She loved to shop, monthly card games with her friends, and going on day bus trips. Peggy was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Ladies Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Church. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. A livestream of the Mass will be available through the Facebook page for Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish (https://www.facebook.com/ElmiraCatholic). Those wishing may remember Peggy with a donation to Notre Dame High School, 1400 Maple Avenue, Elmira NY 14904. Masks are required at both the funeral home and church. Officers and members of the Ladies Division of the AOH will meet at McInerny Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 17th, at 7:00 p.m. to conduct a service for our sister, Peggy.
