Obituary of Carlton C. Fawcett

Please share a memory of Carlton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Carlton C. Fawcett Jr. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, son, and devoted brother. He passed with his family by his side at the age of 64, on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Carl was born in Corning, son of the late Carlton C. and Barbara Hillman Fawcett. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Mary Ryan Fawcett. Carl is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew R. and Kara Fawcett of Myrtle Beach SC with their sons Jakob and Jaxon … Nicholas R. and Amanda Fawcett of Montclair VA with their son Parker … Eric M. and Marchyrey Fawcett of Van Etten with their daughter Kaia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Phil Mosher of Glens Falls NY, Lynda Oakden of Corning, Anne and Wayne Stilts of Big Flats; sister-in-law Patty Ryan of Pembroke Pines FL; brothers-in-law, Daniel Ryan of Big Flats and Bobby Ryan of Elmira; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. As a young boy Carl enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball, routing for the Jets, Boy Scouts and trips to Ocean City NJ. Carl met his wife in 1975 at Alfred State, during hotdog weekend. With Mary's prompting he answered a help wanted ad for an electrician apprenticeship. That started his 36 years as a union electrician for IBEW Local 139 working on important projects like 9 mile, CMOG, and countless others. Carl enjoyed time with his family and friends and would often be the grill master, making his signature chicken recipe. Carl was a first-rate darts and pool player, playing at Westside Tavern with many close friends. Summers were spent enjoying camping at Watkins Glen racetrack, attending concerts with Mary, routing for the Yankees and night swims with the boys at his parents. He was an avid photographer, always capturing these moments with his camera. As a boy, Carl loved dogs which continued as an adult, as he cherished spending time with "pretty boy" Yogi and Molly-Moo Girl. He will truly be missed by all that knew him, especially Mary, "Until we meet again, love and miss you Schnoogy". Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Covid protocol will be in place.
