Obituary of Elaine Splann Allison

Age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 11, 2021. Elaine was born in Elmira, daughter of the late Henry F. and Josephine Hope Splann. She was predeceased by sister-in-law Suzanne Riley Splann, uncle Wayne Hope and aunt Mary Therese Mizzoni. She is survived by brothers and sister-in-law, Henry F. Splann of Elmira, Martin T. and Lorraine Splann of New Hartford NY; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and John Brand of Katy TX; uncle and aunt, Thomas and Marcia Hope of Canton OH; niece, Sheila Splann; nephews, Henry, John, Martin and Patrick Splann. Elaine was an elementary teacher in the Elmira City School District for 33 years. She taught at several schools and retired from George Washington School. After retiring Elaine enjoyed baking cookies for the Elmira Community Kitchen. She was an avid knitter and took pride in knitting prayer shawls and blankets with the group “Made With Love”. Elaine always looked forward to casino trips with friends. She would make year round visits to Eldridge Park…..a place she found to be very peaceful. Elaine’s services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira. There will be an hour of visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will then take place at St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. Elaine’s family would like to offer a special thanks to lifelong friend Margo Gumosky for her kind support, care, laughter, and friendship to Elaine in her final days and to many friends who supported Elaine over the last several months.
