Obituary of Dorotheia F. Knoll

Dorotheia F. Knoll "Dottie" Elmira: Age 87, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, Dottie was born in Bath NY on April 25, 1924. She was the daughter of Walter and Ena (Foster) Bates. Dottie is predeceased by her husband Robert Knoll and step-son John Knoll. Dottie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert P. and Michelle Knoll of Elmira, with their children, Brittani, Brianna, Braeden and Trevor; step-daughter Barbara Haskell of Horseheads, with her children, Darren, Joei Lynn, Jessica, Danielle and Krys Ann; step grandson Michael Olsen and family of Elmira; a nephew, several nieces from Bath NY; and good friend Les Jenkins of Roseville PA. Dottie was a graduate of Keuka College, obtaining her nursing degree. She had a life long love for Hammondsport and Keuka Lake. Dottie worked at the Bath Hospital and Corning Hospital. She then spent 30 years working for Dr. Philo Hildabrand D.D.S. in Elmira Heights. In the mid 1970's her husband Bob opened an ice cream store on the corner of East 2nd Street and Madison Avenue. After a year Bob turned the store into "The Peanut Bar". His health soon failed, and Dottie took over running the bar, maintaining it for 20 years. Dottie loved to take car rides up to Bath and the Keuka Lake area to visit family and friends. Most of all she loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with Pastor Mark Erway officiating.
