John E. Liddle
Horseheads: Age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. John was born November 12, 1946 in Queens, NY the son of the late Russell and Bessie (Hildebrand) Liddle. He is survived by his wife of 42 years
Catherine Ciuffo Liddle; children, with their families, John E. Liddle, Jr., currently serving his country in Afghanistan, and his son John, III; Brian Liddle, Horseheads, and wife Marlyn with daughters, Caitlin and Zoe; Jennifer Alvernaz, Horseheads, and husband Anthony with children, Emily, Noelle, and Nicholas; Patrick Liddle, Horseheads, and wife Amy with daughters; Isabella and Gabriella; siblings, with their spouses, Shirley Ann and Richard Davison, Edgecombe ME; Russell and Judy Liddle, Rockport MA; Mark and Sheryl Liddle, Red Hook NY; and Mary Elizabeth and Michael Polchaninoff, Westbrook CT; along with many nieces and nephews and his dogs Mikey and Tuffy. John served his country in the U S Army during the Vietnam War, earning four Bronze Stars and the Gallantry Cross. John was a mailman in Central Islip, Long Island. Remembering his childhood vacations in upstate New York, John and his family moved to Van Etten when he retired in 1987. His retirement didn't last long when he started working in the Produce Department at Wegman's in Ithaca, a job he really enjoyed and was very proud of. A sports fan, John's teams were the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed singing and appreciating "doo-wop" music, drinks with ice, and watching WWE. John's most treasured times were those spent with his grandchildren. He will be forever loved by his family.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow. Interment, with military honors will take place at Woodlawn National Cemetery Columbarium.
