"Joe"
Elmira: Age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Joe was born in Elmira January 30, 1926, a son of John and Mary (Babiak) Skordinski. He is predeceased by his sisters, Julia Lagonegro and Anna Stempin. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Frances Clark Skordinski; daughters and son-in-law, Nancy A. and Frank Oliva, Canton MA; Jeanne A. Skordinski, Elmira; son Joseph F. Skordinski, Jr., Smallwood NY; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Connie Skordinski, Elmira; grandchildren, Johsie Oliva, Boston MA, Major Ammilie Oliva, U S Army, with husband Major James Outland, U S Army, Oahu HI, Kyle and Lexi Skordinski, Smallwood; along with several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Joe was a U S Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He retired from Westinghouse with over 40 years of service. Joe was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the Elmira Heights American Legion. He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery, Elmira Heights. Those wishing may remember Joe with a donation to Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Dialysis Unit, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira NY 14905.
