Obituary of Edward P. Shon

Edward P. Shon "Ed" Age 89, Went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 11, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Ed was born in Renovo, PA on June 26, 1922, the son of Frank and Ella (Antal) Shon. He is predeceased by his wife, Blanche Ferguson Shon in 1999, son, Gary L. Baker, brothers, William, Joseph and Thomas, Sister Helen Shon. Ed is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Alice and William Erickson of Elmira; sister, Agnes Shon of Elmira; daughter-in-law, Sharon Baker; grandsons, William Erickson, Timothy (Donna) Erickson, Jeffrey (Michele) Erickson, grandaughter, Kimberly Erickson, great grandchildren, Michael J. and Samuel Shon, Kennedy M. and Colin C., Landon and Jeffery Jr. Erickson, step grandchildren, Brittany Cardomone, Kelsey and Megan Sullivan, also surviving, sisters-in-law, Mary Shon of Renovo, PA and Margarita Shon of Coral Gables, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends. He graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in Renovo, PA. He worked on the Pennsylvania railroad and was a charter member of the Citizen's Hose Company as a volunter fireman. He came to Elmira and worked at Bendix-Purolator for many years until his retirement. A fondness of nature, Ed was an avid hunter and bird trainer. He was also a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Sts., on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers, will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery. Ed's family would like to thank the staff at Elcor for all the wonderful care Ed received.
