James J. Maguire
Elmira: Age 88, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Jim was born October 12, 1923, in Woodhaven, Queens, NY, the son of James J. and Anastasia (Malsky) Maguire. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Shirley Eddy Maguire; sons, with their families, Timothy J. and Kathleen Maguire of West Dennis MA and their son Daniel; Michael P. and Mary Lynn Maguire of Severna Park MD and their children, Kerry Ann (Anthony) Ezersky, Michael and Sean; great-grandchildren, Kylie Maguire, Michael P. Maguire III and Keegan Ezersky; sisters-in-law, Lucy Griswold of Canastota NY and Florence Eddy of Dorris FL. Jim was a U S Navy veteran serving his country during WWII. He earned his Bachelor and Master's Degrees from Notre Dame University. Working for NYS Division of Parole for 35 years, where he was an area supervisor, Jim retired in 1986.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church St., Elmira NY 14905. Military honors will follow outside after the memorial mass. Private interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Jim with a donation to the Dominican Monastery, 1310 W. Church Street, Elmira NY 14905.
