Elmira: Age 83, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Emilien was born in Trois Rivieres, Quebec on April 5, 1929. He was the seventh of twelve children born to Camil and Marianna (Leclerc) DuPont. Emilien married Thérèse Lemaire on February 18, 1950, and they moved to Elmira in January of 1953. They were married for 34 years before Thérèse passed away on February 12, 1984. Emilien was also predeceased by son-in-law Tom Kraft on November 19, 1992. He is survived by daughters, Diane D. (Bruce) Elston of Elmira, Joanne K. (David) Ulmer of Chandler AZ, Kathleen (Tom) DuPont-Frost of Elmira; grandchildren, Barbara (Mark) Thomas of Horseheads, Bruce (Michelle) Elston Jr. of Elmira Heights, Natalie Frost of Buffalo, Chantelle Kraft of Beaverton OR, Makensie Kraft, Matthew and Rebekah Ulmer all of Chandler AZ; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Bill (Paulette) DuPont of Arizona, André DuPont of Elmira, Jacques (Anita) DuPont of Horseheads, Jean Guy (Pierrette) DuPont, Claude DuPont both of Trois Rivieres, Quebec; sister Magella Pepin of Elmira; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gaetan LeBlanc of Quebec, Lucille Lemaire, Trois Rivieres Quebec, H. Paul (Pierrette) Lemaire of Repentigny, Quebec; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Other predeceased family members include sisters, Jeanne D'Arc (Henri) Fetterley and Marguerite (Louis) Marchand; brothers, Ronald (Janine) DuPont, Leo Gilles DuPont, and Marcel DuPont; sisters-in-law, Suzanne LeBlanc, Celine (André) Archambault and Berthe DuPont; brother-in-law Clement Pepin. Emilien was an avid gardener. He was employed with A & P in Horseheads until its closing.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Donations in Emilien's memory may be directed to Mount Saviour Monastery, 231 Monastery Road, Pine City NY 14871, Holy Family Catholic Schools, 421 Fulton St., Elmira NY 14904 and Notre Dame High School, 1400 Maple Ave., Elmira NY 14904. The DuPont family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the 5th floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the loving care they provided for their father.
