Obituary of Aloysius J. Dlugokinski

Age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital SNF where he's lived for the last four years. Al was born in Elmira the son of John Walter and Frances (Nowayczk) Dlugokinski. He is survived by his sister Anna Marie Dlugokinski of Elmira; goddaughter Mary Montanarella of Elmira; family friends, Carolyn E. Antoniw and her husband Steve Patkos with their daughter Brittany, of Fallbrook CA; Nicole M. (Martin) Ostapowicz of Morris PA; Sophia M. (Frank) Levindoski of Wellsboro PA; along with several cousins. Al was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy where he played football, basketball and baseball. A US Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean War. Al maintained a keen interest in sports throughout his life. He was an avid Buffalo Bills, working as a Bills scout for many years. Al retired from the NYS Thruway Authority where he was a toll collector. After his retirement he was a seasonal employee at Watkins Glen International Race Track. Al was a long time communicant of St. Casimir's Church. There will be no calling hours. All are invited to Al's Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 2, 2018, 11:00 a.m., St. Casimir's Church, Elmira. Interment, with committal prayers and military honors, will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Al to one of the following charities, Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1010 Davis Street, Elmira NY 14901, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or to Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Road, Lackawanna NY 14218.
