Mary Virginia Emerson
Elmira: passed away Monday, April 22, 2013. Mary Virginia is the daughter of William and Mary (Collins) Malcolm. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by daughters, Sheila Slusser and Kathleen Emerson. Mary Virginia is survived by her husband of 62 years Raymond B. Emerson; daughter Deborah E. Emerson, Pine City; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary M. and Cindy Emerson, Odessa, Mark R. and Janice Emerson, Goffstown NH; daughter and son-in-law Theresa M. and Merle Sinko, Elmira; grandchildren, Brian and Christie Emerson, Jennifer, Heather, Bridget and Ryan Emerson, Patricia Picarazzi, Georganna (Maj. Darren) Rapport, Andrea Sinko, Ryan Sinko and Colin (Brooke) Sinko; great-grandchildren, Brennan and Hayden Rapaport; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary Virginia was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira. A teacher, she taught business classes at area schools and at Elmira Business Institute. She retired from EBI with over 20 years of service. Mary Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time spent with her family.
Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment and committal prayers will then take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Those wishing may remember Mary Virginia with a donation to either, SPCA, Route 352, Elmira NY 14903, or Catholic Charities, 215 E. Church Street, Elmira NY 14901.
