I'd like to express my sincerest condolences to the Hilfiger Family. Susie was a dear friend going back to our early college days. As a young woman, she was so exciting to be around. With a magnetic personality, an impish grin, & a twinkle in her eye, Susie would turn a the most mundane activity into the most delightful & exciting adventure. Everyone was drawn to her, became a friend, and she took a keen interest in kindling those friendships. Her compassion, spontaneity, & love of life were like none other. She was a determined, self confident individual which is way all of us would follow on her adventures.
Who knew that those characteristics would be tested to the max throughout her lifetime? I have been fortunate enough to live somewhat close to Susie for the past almost 20 years. This enabled both of us to visit each other on a frequent basis. As heartbreaking as it was to see the effects MS had on her, I was always astounded at how she would always turn our conversations away from her & focus on me. She taught me more than words can describe. She tried so desperately to maintain her dignity & independence. She would not have been able to do that without the help from her siblings especially you Tommy. You all gave her the ability to live life to the fullest despite the obstacles that stood in her way.
It is with mixed feelings that I say goodbye to my friend Susie.
