A little late in learning about Chief Erway's passing. I extend my condolences to the entire Erway clan. Chief and I was stationed at McGuire AFB together, we knew each other briefly as he was transitioning in I was transitioning into retirement. As part of the squadron's leadership team, Chief was kind to me and treated me with much respect . He spoke at my retirement ceremony and surprised me with a great review of my career and passion for our Air Force. His kindness was and is greatly appreciated. May he find rest with our universal source from which we came. May he enjoy the view of our universe like only a United States Airman could.

To the family of Phil Erway, my sympathy to you all. I just learned of his passing after reading the TAE Alumni Newsletter. Phil's brother, Chris, is a TAE classmate of mine. My condolences Chris. After reading the many fine comments, Phil was clearly loved and respected and had a very deep faith. For those that remain, I am sorry his work here was finished so early.

We were so blessed to get to know Phil and his family while serving with him in Turkey. His strong faith and love of family stand out in our memories. He brought that same attitude of caring with him to the workplace where he cared for his people and led his team to achieve great things. I had the honor of officiating his retirement from the Air Force as he moved on to the next chapter of his life. We are deeply saddened to learn that chapter was much shorter lived than we thought it would be. Our prayers go to the Erway family--we know Phil has gone to our Father's house--and we thankful to have had our lives enriched by Phil's presence in them.

I have peace, as all who loved him should, that Brother Phil is indeed resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus in heaven. Nonetheless, I will also miss his prayer group emails and spiritual counsel. I look back fondly on our time together at the 374 AW Inspector General and remember how he helped us move to McGuire AFB, NJ about a year after his family did. He was a true servant-leader and, as such, a model for those he touched.

Dear Erway family,
Please accept my condolences for your loss. I hope you can find comfort from the Bible during this difficult time. One of my favorite scriptures is Revelation 21:3,4 where it promises in part: “.. God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more..”
sincerely,
Cindy

Phil Erway was one of the most sweetest persons we've ever met. He was a Air Force Brother to my Husband. We had the pleasure, of serving beside him and his beloved Family, while stationed in Turkey. His Family is one of a kind ❤, his heart so full of the LORD. His gift of singing, was like none other. The World has lost a great man, but Heaven has sure gained an Angel. Goodbyes hurt the most, when the story wasn't finished. Watch over your Family, as they continue their journey in life. Their lives have changed FOREVER ... FOREVER you'll be in their hearts. Until you meet again someday .... Couldn't be more proud, to see your Sons ... carrying on your Legacy, by serving our Country. A beautiful soul, is never fotgotten. May your Soul Rest in Peace .... Shawn, Scott, Melissa and Marlyn .. Our continued Thoughts & Prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
The White Family

Tess and I extend our most heartfelt condolences to the Erway family. We had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Phil and his family while stationed together in Turkey. Phil was a true role model for all men to follow. As an Airforce Chief, he exemplified what it meant to take care of those under him...he was a true leader. Phil's devotion to his family and God was something that truely inspired me. He was an incredible man and my only regret is not having an opportunity to get to know him better. Rest easy Chief, until we meet again.
