Age 95, passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Marian was born in Elmira, daughter of James and Cora (Hoag) Aseline. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence J. Riley; daughter Suzanne Riley Splann and brother James Aseline. Marian is survived by her children, with their families, son-in-law Henry Splann of Elmira with children, Sheila, Henry and John; Michael and Lloydena Riley of Elmira with children, Michael and Cecilia; Lawrence and Mae Riley of Elmira with children, Tara and Justin; Patrick and Patricia Riley of Kingston WA with children, Patrick, Jr. (Cassandra), Sean and Aidan; Mary and Shawn Smith of Campbell NY with children, Ashley (John) Hennekey and Ryan; Catherine and Peter Knowles of Elmira; great granddaughter Grace Olivia Hennekey. Marian enjoyed raising her six children. After becoming empty nesters, Marian and Larry traveled extensively throughout the United States and overseas. Her greatest love was time spent with family. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water St., Elmira, on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Casimir's Church, 1000 Davis Street, Elmira, on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Marian with a donation to Care First, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post NY 14870-9509.
