Age 62, peacefully passed away, in Corning NY, on November 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born June 7, 1955 in Ithaca NY, son of the late Robert C. Petrillose, Sr., and Sharon Follett Petrillose. Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret "Mimi" Welliver Petrillose; his children and their spouses, Lindsay and Gideon Viana of Wilmington MA, Mardi and Michael Hook, and Christopher and Bridget Petrillose, all of Elmira; sisters, Renee Petrillose (Charlie) of Dallas TX, and her children, Morgan (Ashley) Ainslie, Kate (David) Zannella, and Nicholas Rivera; Sharon Petrillose Mueller (Michael) of Fayetteville NC, and their children, Garrett, Emma, and Alex. Bob's pride and joy were his seven grandchildren: Brian De Oliveira, Giselli De Oliveira, Emily Viana, Olivia Hook, Caroline Hook, Oliver Petrillose and Lucy Petrillose. He is also survived by his beloved aunts and uncles, several additional nieces and nephews, and his loving extended Welliver family. Bob was raised in Ithaca, graduating from Ithaca High School in 1973. He spent his early years helping his father with the family businesses, both Johnny's Big Red Grille restaurant and the infamous "Hot Truck" on the Cornell University campus. Bob attended American University in Washington D.C., studying political science. Bob had a passion for classic cars and collected several including his favorite, a 1963 Studebaker Hawk Gran Turismo. Bob began his tenure at Welliver McGuire Inc. in 1989 and has worked for the company for the past 28 years. Bob's family will be forever grateful to Dr. George Bosl and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City for successfully curing him of terminal cancer in 1989 and giving him an additional 28 years of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship established in Bob's name for local students attending Cornell University. Donations can be sent to: The Petrillose Family Scholarship Fund, Community Foundation, 301 South Main Street, Horseheads, NY 14845. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held for Bob on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church, 375 W. Church Street, Elmira, with The Reverend Kit Tobin officiating.
