Obituary of Maria DeMichele

Elmira: Age 86, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, surrounded by her family. Maria was born April 27, 1928, in Italy, the daughter of Emilia (DeMatise) and Sam Ciarrocca. Her husband Antonio DeMichele predeceased her on October 9, 2009. Maria was also predeceased by her infant daughter Emilia and brothers, Larry and Edward Ciarocca. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mario and Debbie DeMichele of Horseheads and their daughter Lauren; daughter Emilia M. "Mimi" Demichele of Elmira; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gennaro and Concetta DeMichele, Giovanna Ciacone, all of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Rose Rosa of Italy; along with several nieces and nephews. Maria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a life- long member of Blessed Sacrament (St. Anthony) Parish, and prayed the rosary daily. Maria loved spending time with her family and cooking her Italian dishes. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church. Interment, with committal prayers, will take place at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
