Obituary of Richard Raymond Nemeth

Elmira: Age 79, formerly of Goldens Bridge NY, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Richard was born October 22, 1934, in Ramsey, Ohio, a son of the late Henry and Nellie (Drobis) Nemeth. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Barbara Jean (Louch) Nemeth and sister Mary Ignac. Richard is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Dina Nemeth of Bedford, NY; John C. and Ursula Nemeth of Poughquag, NY; daughter Lynne M. Nemeth and Karen Hardy of Elmira; grandchildren, Nicholas, Annabelle and James Nemeth, and Maurice (Joanne) Adams; brother, Edward Nemeth of Florida; sister, Mildred Barreiro of Ossining, NY; friend and companion, Gail Fritz of Elmira, along with several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Richard served his country with the U. S. Merchant Marines. He was a graduate of SUNY Maritime College in Fort Schuyler, NY. He had a great love for animals and sports. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. Water Street, Elmira, on Friday, October 3, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon George Welch officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the conclusion of the service.
