I started jogging a number of years ago. The routes I ran took me up and down Water, Church, and Wall. Of course I would occasionally see Kim who was usually running in the opposite direction. We would nod or say hi. I probably first talked with her when I saw her prior to one of the Race for the Cure runs. By then I was noticing her accomplishments at the Senior games. Over time when we saw each other during our morning runs we would stop and talk. It was during times she would talk about the Senior games. She also talked about her husbands illness, his remission, how proud he was at her winning of the National Senior 5K in 2005 and then his death. I think it was about a year ago when I ran into her while she was walking up Wall when she said she was going to no longer run but would continue walking. The last time I saw her was at this year's Race for the Cure and she looked and sounded great which is why I was so surprised and sorry to just read of her death. I am sorry I did not see the notice in the paper earlier as I would have liked to have attended the service.
Kim was an amazing athlete and an inspiration to me. I always looked forward to the possibility of running into her during one of my runs and am very sorry that will not happen again. My sincere sympathies for your loss.
